description of :
have degree in French Civilization. have written and published a novel set in Renaissance France

Teacher's qualifications:
I do not have credentials as a teacher. My focus for over twenty-three years has been on editing/proofreading and writing as I worked for a scientific publishing company.

Summary
In-depth experience as an indexer/translator/proofreader in the Arts and Humanities department with a leading company in the scientific publishing industry. Resourceful, adaptable; both a team player and able to work with little or no supervision.

Experience
SIAM - part time proofreader
(Society for Applied and Industrial Mathematics) Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 2006-present

ISI/Thomson Scientific Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 1985-2005

Indexer/Translator II
Indexer/Translator I
Production Assistant/Proofreader 1983-1985
Scope of Responsibilities
*Translated information from scholarly journals in multiple languages into English for inclusion in a scientific database.

* Utilized knowledge of foreign languages (French, Spanish and Italian) to provide accurate translations of article essentials (titles, footnotes, authors, addresses, references, abstracts) in a timely manner.

* Acquired a basic, working knowledge of additional foreign languages (German, Portuguese) through self-study (tapes, books) which allowed the taking on of a more varied and difficult workload, leading to a promotion from Indexer/translator I to Indexer/translator II.

* Gathered, maintained and updated lists of foreign language vocabulary phrases to provide customers with easily retrievable search terms to aid their inquiries.

*As a proofreader, I have checked, flagged and corrected the content for index products from press sheet stage to bound book stage. I presently do the same for galleys and manuscripts at SIAM. These tasks are performed online and manually.

* I have PCNow, MS Word and Microsoft Office Live.
