IGCSE Biology

 with Ajose Ojajuni

short description:
Basic Biology principles necessary for beginners
long description:
It is an introduction into the world of the living. It observes what diffrentiates a living being from a non living. The substances (elements/compounds) that make up life or that are involved in life processes are treated at the most elementary level in such a way that a non-chemistry student can grasp. The basic unit of living organism, the organisation and processes of exchange between a cell and its environment is discussed. We can not do much without first looking into classification of living organism and scientific naming. On and on we go until we get to Micoorganism with respect to scientific use of them, genetics (Study of inheritance), homeostastis, ecology.

Biology is actually interesting if it is functionally handled. Everyday examples if used as much as possible rather than abstract instances help understanding.

Teacher's qualifications:
B Agric; University of cambridge IGCSE Certification.
's preferred teaching style:
I have never taught until it is clear the student understands. My teaching style mainly is that of making student digest evry bit of a topic before going to the next. In that wise, probing and asking of question to and fro is my way. I can not do without giving a short exercise of direct questions at the end of a lesson. I also like receiving questios from the student. The way the student answers the question point me to the areas I have not handled well. such can be revisited. At the beginning of every lesson, previous topics are reviewed to encouraged continuity and understanding rather than recall.
