long description:
In this course we will explore American literature of approximately the past one hundred years by examining major literary genres and forms (short fiction, plays and novels) and by reading this literature in its cultural and historical context. We will read both canonical and non-canonical texts in order to get a broader range of American literature and its possibilities. This is an introductory course, not a survey course, and thus does not aspire to full coverage of American literature; instead, in this course I hope to introduce you to a few traditions in recent American literary and political history. This course will cover brief Native American literature to present. Students who decide to take this course much find a way to obtain the required reading material. The material covered in this course will be "The Crucible", "The Scarlet Letter", "The Great Gatsby", and "Death of a Salesman."

Teacher's qualifications:
-Teacher at Sharonville Convention Center for noncredit classes (2005-Present)
-Currently teaching "American Literature" on
-University of Dayton student for English Education
's preferred teaching style:
I can be a fun loving teacher as long as I have students who are willing to learn. I am very strict as I believe that when a student signs up for a course, they should honor it to the best of their abilities. I enjoy grading and expanding students minds with my knowledge and most of all I love to interact with all the students and help them learn. Basically, if you do your work and participate you'll love me. If, however, you slack off, you will see my wrath.
