Ayurvedic Practitioner/Writer/Massage Instructor/Mother/

tutoring & advice

 with Karyn Chabot, LMT, D.Ay

short description:
Touch Therapy & Stone Healing & Ayurvedic Nutrition

long description:
Sacred Stone Therapy combines the art of stone bodywork with the powerful, ancient science of Ayurveda. You do not need prior education on Ayurveda to succeed in this class. Sacred Stone Therapy is a 75 minute calming, peaceful and restorative experience. We focus on anchoring the first and second chakra and directing energy towards the "terminal ends" of the body. This treatment integrates the use of stones with western & eastern massage techniques. Stone massage was never meant to replace the human touch. Grounding, anchoring and nurturing are an essential part of the experience for both the therapist and client. The beauty of Sacred Stone Therapy is manifested in the compassion extended from the therapist to the client. This compassion becomes imprinted within the matrix of each stone.

description of :
The student and the teacher create the teaching. I am forever a student and a teacher. As I teach, the knowledge goes to a deeper level, so I thank my students for this opportunity.

Teacher's qualifications:
I am the founder of The Sacred Stone School of Mystical Healing Arts and Continuing Education in Massage Therapy located in Rhode Island. In 1999, I started using sea stones to heal my clients while I lived on a private stone beach in Middletown, RI. The cliffs of the stone beach were my sanctuary at the end of each day where I massaged client after client. The cliffs were made of smooth, carved, warm stone that seemed to compassionately pull the pains out of my body while I lay upon them during each sunset. These stone cliffs were magical, truly healing and beautiful, and I believe they inspired me to bring the sea stones from below into my treatment room to help create a high vibrational space for my clients to heal. I graduated from The Ayurvedic Institute in New Mexico in 1997. It was an amazing honor and pure delight to study under Dr. Vasant Lad, B.A.M.S for more than one year. I am also the mother of a 17-year-old princess, the sunshine of my life.

Over the last 9 years of using heated and chilled sea stones & crystals to heal my clients, I created a unique sequence and theory that integrates the beautiful science of Ayurveda and the art of heated stone massage (Shila Abyhanga). I call it Sacred Stone Therapy. It was an honor to present Sacred Stone Therapy with Dr. John Doulliard at NAMA last year. I have worked in the health industry for 23 years, am a licensed and nationally certified Bodyworker, a certified Ayur*Yoga Instructor and nationally certified Yoga Instructor with Don Stapleton, was a professional modern dancer, certified master crystologist with the Taomchi Association of America, 2nd degree Reiki Practitioner, Quantum Touch therapist, certified Fitness Trainer and a certified Medical Thai Therapist. I am writing the chapter on Ayurvedic Bodywork in third edition of the book "Massage Therapy: Principles and Practice" and have published many articles in trade magazines. I have a bachelor's degree in Alternative Health and Fitness and am a member of the American Massage Therapy Association, The National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork and The National Ayurvedic Medical Association.

In 2001, I presented Sacred Stone Therapy on National TV, on The Living Better Show, where I gave a treatment to the host of the show. I am thrilled to be an annual presenter at the National Ayurvedic Medical Association Conferences and the Los Angeles Spa & Resort Expos. I've professionally trained the staff at Puravida Yoga Retreat Center in Costa Rica in Ayurvedic therapies. I have produced 5 comprehensive instructional videos on the art of stone healing and Ayurvedic spa therapies and written 5 illustrated bodywork manuals and correspondence courses. Sacred Stone Therapy made the cover of the American Massage Therapy Association's Magazine in Oct 2003 and March 2005. At the moment, I am busy finishing publishing my book on Sacred Stone Therapy. As I continue to do my personal inner-work, I am humbled and inspired by the compassionate, gifted healers and teachers that have walked beside me. True healers create the space for client's to heal themselves.
