Basic First Aid

First Aid is the initial care given to a victim of sudden illness, or injury. It is the care given by a person as soon as possible after an accident or illnes, until medical help arivers.
long description:
Course Purpose is to prepare students with the knowledge and to be able to respond in an emergency, until medical help arrives.

Student Objecteves:

Students will have the knowledge to be able to help in an emergency, sudden illness or injury, until help arrives.
Students will learn how to asses a situation.
Students will learn about broken bones, dislocations, sprains, and strains.
Students will learn about cuts, scraps, punctures,and abrasions.
Students will learn first aid for CPR on an adult.
Students will learn how to help a choking victim.
Students will learn how to control bleeding, wound care, fainting and shock.
Students will learn basic signs and symptoms for sudden illnesses such as heat stroke, hyperventalatin, allergic reaction, asthma, poisoning, diabetic emergencies, and epileptic seizures
Students will learn how to treat a burn, and know about electrical injuries, and excessive heat and cold injuries.
Students will learn about poison ivy and poison sumac.
Students will learn about insect and bite stings.
Students will learn about splinting.
Student will learn basic Human Antomy
