This course will cover the basics of good database design from the level that the student feels most comfortable.

Creating and relating tables in a MS SQL server database.

The student will use the database design created in an earlier session and create that database in MS SQL Server

This is a brief introduction to Structured Query Language (SQL) It will cover
Select, Insert, Update and Delete statement syntax, joins, Create Alter and Drop statements

In this session the student will learn basic T-SQL syntax and how and when to use Stored procedures

The student will use their knowledge of SQL and stored procedures to create and execute queries against their SQL server database

This session will introduce students to the other tools available within SQL server. This will include the SQL profiler, the wizards and security management

I have worked in the IT industry in a variety of roles, from developer to IT Director, over the last 9 years.
I currently work for the British Library as a senior Technical architect.
I have delivered training in both a business and classroom environment to audiences with a wide range of skill levels from novice to technical experts.
Teacher's qualifications:
I have an MSc in Computing & information systems.
I have written training courses for Thomson Netg in VB.NET, C#, Web services and XML for all levels up to and including microsoft certification.
I am currently studying for Sun Certified enterprise Architect status.

's preferred teaching style:
I prefer to use example based learning techniques in combination with reference material. I believe that real world worked examples are the quickest way to gain an understanding of a subject. I am quite happy to take suggestions on example areas from students. If you have a specific project in mind I can create examples around this.
