description of :
I have been teaching American Sign Language to both adults and children for the past 6 years. This is a passion of mine with the main focus on building communication bridges for individuals iwth disabilities. For the past year, I have also begun working with families of children with disabilities helping them to learn how to advocate for their child and efficiently keep important records for easy access.
Teacher's qualifications:
My sign language skills were developed through the interpreter training program at Lansing Community College as well as through various workshops and interactions within the Deaf community. As a parent of a child with disabilities, my experience with the medical and educational systems has been taught through the direct application of need. In 2010, I was fortunate enough to take classes online that focused on documentation, internet research, and record keeping. This rather ecclectic background has allowed me to help many families and as I continue to follow this path, my hope it that many more individuals can find the help they need.
's preferred teaching style:
These classes are taught as self-paced lessons. Participants are invited to move through each lesson at a pace comfortable to them and are able to check comprehension through a series of knowledge checks.
