Drawing for Beginners

 with Michele Monseau

short description:
Drawing is a learned skill that anyone can achieve with knowledge and practice!
long description:
Drawing is the foundation of all artistic practice. Once you know how to draw, any
artistic medium is open to you: painting, sculpture, digital arts--the possibilities of
expression are endless. In this course you will learn how to draw by completing
assignments on space, line, perspective, texture, gesture, and more. Anyone can
learn how to draw--really! Yes, there are different levels of natural talent, but all it
takes to learn to draw is perseverance and PRACTICE. Learning how to draw is much
like learning a musical instrument. Practice, in other words, repeating assigned
exercises, will hone your basic skills and you will be surprised at the unexpected
ways we achieve success.
level of difficulty:
all welcome
minimum class size:
Students can message me anytime M-F from 10am-5pm.
Messages will be answered in a timely manner. I am only
available for live chat when live sessions are assigned or
when a student requests an appointment.
fee comments:
This fee is commensurate with my terminal degree in my
field and my experience. This course is a college level
course that is taught at many colleges and universities,
and one I have been teaching for many years. this fee is
also much less than a student would pay for this course
at a university. This fee is payment on booking only.

comments: DURATION: 24-48HRS!!

A face to face studio drawing course would be
approximately 3-6 hours per week for anywhere from
8-15 weeks. In an online course, the student would be
expected to devote at least 3-6 hours per week on each
assignment. This course will last for 8 weeks, with one
assignment per week, to be completed and uploaded by
the following week's due date. The duration listed is 8
hours, but the site only bases that time on the online
sessions listed. Most of your time in the class will be you
drawing the assignments. The actual duration should be
24-48 hrs total for the 8 weeks. This course is not dependent
on the listed start date of Feb. 1, 2013. It can start at any time
once the class has 2 students.

    Michele Monseau

    description of :
I am an experienced professor of art and have been
teaching for over 11 years. Teaching art is highly
individualized, and even though we have class
assignments, I work with students individually to assess
their understanding of the assignments and their
    Teacher's qualifications:
I am a college professor and have been teaching studio
art classes for over 11 years in higher education
institutions in the United States. I have an MFA from the
University of Texas at San Antonio, and have been
teaching since 2002. I have taught online lecture
courses at various colleges since 2006.
    's preferred teaching style:
My students describe me as easy to talk to and engaging and
fun in the classroom. They also know that in my classes, they
are going to learn! Teaching art classes is quite different from
teaching anything else. Students have to be self-motivated
and dedicated to the process of learning skills that aren't "cut
and dried", and are highly individualized. There are no
absolutes in art (or in life!), but it sure is fun to explore the
possibilities of yourself and your expression!
