An Introduction To The Law of Contract

courses

 with FRANCIS AFOLALU

short description:
To provide students with the fundamental principles that guide the operation of contracts and how these principles relate to time, communication and other factors not contemplated by parties to a contract.

long description:
An Introduction to the Law of Contract Law presents four major components of agreements: offer, acceptance, consideration and intention to enter legal relations. These terms are explained with real life cases decided in the courts, which forms what is called in law - principles. The second lesson builds on the first by discussing some 'confusing similarities', which agreements tend to have with some other legal terminologies like Invitation to Treat, Auctions and Counter Offers. The legal effects of advertisements and tenders are examined within the context of its relationship to agreements. The third and fourth lessons deals with the notion of acceptance. This concept is a very important one in agreements because its operation depends so much on time, conduct and efficacy of communication. All these instances are dealt with in these lessons and how each one is or is not an agreement are specifically discussed.

FRANCIS AFOLALU

description of :
I am a practicing lawyer who has taken an interest in Contract Law because: "I had drawn up many agreements such as Land,Sales, tenancy and had handled several cases involving different types of contract. I am familiar with the intricacies that are involved like for instance how the courts review evidence, interprete and give judgements. I take special interest in teaching online because I am a trained teacher and I feel much of the perceived difficulty that people have about understanding law is as a result of inadequate methods of teaching it. It is my belief that my online courses will satisfy many people who have this experience and give me also the opportunity to share my experiences. I had also given and participated in many seminars on different aspects of law such as Corporate, Commercial and International Law and some of the benefits I derived from this exposure are reflected in the manner in which the lessons are structured and written".

Teacher's qualifications:
I have a B.A.(Education) English degree obtained in 1989,a degree in Law obtained in 1993 and was called to the Bar in 1993.I obtained a Masters in International and European Law of the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands in addition to taking courses in Public Relations and Communication.I also have certification in Arbitration and Conciliation.

's preferred teaching style:
Course work, response to questions and use of netlinks
