Objective: I seek an online (full/part-time) History or Humanities teaching position.

Professional Experience:
January 2005 – Present
Center Academy -- Palm Harbor, FL
High School Teacher
For the past several years, I have served Center Academy, and its students, as a High School Teacher; teaching eleventh and twelfth graders. In addition to writing lesson plans and teaching, I also serve as a male “role-model” counselor for several students, edit the school’s monthly newsletter, write press releases for the school, and am heavily involved in the school’s athletic and fundraising activities. Center Academy is SACS and NIPSA accredited.

September 2010 – Present
Universal Class – Tampa Florida
Online Social Studies/Humanities Instructor
Since I have been with Universal Class, I have taught classes such as: American Literature, Philosophy, American History, Civil War, Vietnam War, Ancient Civilizations, American Government, and several others. Each class normally has between 30 and 60 students. Students in my classes range from those working towards college credits, to teachers seeking Continuing Education Units, to members of America’s military; while many simply take the courses for personal enrichment.

August 2001-December 2004
Pinellas County School District -- Largo, FL
Long-Term Substitute High School Teacher
While with the Pinellas County School District, I taught primarily American and World History at most of the high schools in the northern part of the county.

August 2000 – May 2001
New Port Richey Marine Institute
High School History Teacher
While with the New Port Richey Marine Institute, a school for juvenile offenders recently released from Juvenile Detention Centers, I served as the school’s American and World History teacher. I was named “Teacher of the Month” in March 2001.

Master of Arts, Humanities – Discipline History, GPA 3.95
California State University - Dominquez Hills – Carson, California
Thesis: “African Americans and Professional Baseball in Florida: A Study in Economic Exclusion, 1947-1965.” I have 24 graduate credits in history.

Bachelor of Arts, History, GPA: 3.67
Mount St. Mary’s University – Emmitsburg, Maryland
While studying at Mount St. Mary’s, America’s second oldest Catholic University, I was involved with Phi Alpha Theta (history honors society), the college radio station and newspaper, and was a member of the George Henry Miles and Monsignor Tierney Honor Societies.

I play adult ice hockey, coach youth hockey, and serve as an assistant
coach on our high school football team, play golf; and continually
explore the political, social, and economic theories of history through
American, European, Russian, and Near Eastern perspectives

I will be happy to provide professional references upon request

's preferred teaching style:
