This ten lesson course explores influential world religions and
philosophies, introducing students to the history, concepts and
beliefs of each. Using a historical and multidisciplinary
approach to the study of world religions, students will learn
about Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism,
Secularism, Postmodernism, New Age, and popular American
religions using a variety of sources. Students who have
successfully completed this material will be able to understand
and identify important aspects of the world’s major religions.

Jacob Prahlow

Jacob Prahlow is a graduate of the Summit
Semester Critical Thinking Program (2009).
Jacob has an Associates Degree in Liberal
Arts from Southwestern Michigan College
(2010), and was a Summit Oxford Fellow in
2011 when he attended the Summit Oxford
Study Program in conjunction with the Oxford
Study Abroad Program and Washington
International Studies Center, studying the
Development of Christian Doctrine,
Worldviews, and C.S. Lewis. Jacob will
graduate from Valparaiso University with a
Bachelor of Arts degree in theology and will
be attending the Wake Forest University
Graduate Program in Religion on a full
scholarship this fall.

's preferred teaching style:
Students will be given online readings in
preparation for sessions. Live sessions will
include lectures and PowerPoint
presentations on the meetings material.
Sessions can be short or long, depending on
the preferences of the student(s). Short
quizzes will administered to verify
participation and knowledge.
