I will offer support for teachers needing someone to mentor them in the day to day challenges of being an effective teacher.
long description:
As your mentor and coach, our goal would be for your students to show measurable improvement across the content areas. I will help you to develop a community of learners who will ultimately become excellent problem solvers, critical-thinkers, and independent learners. We can meet three times weekly in a small group (no more than three teachers) for professional learning presentations, collaboration, and reflection. My strength is reading and literacy, however I will offer assistance in math. Some topics will include classroom management, differentiation of instruction, reading assessment and instruction, and writing.
minimum class size:
Three days a week, two week days and Saturdays. Each session is 75 minutes.
fee comments:
$25 would be the fee for the week. Participants must commit to three consecutive sessions for $25

My philosophy of teaching is for students to be the center of learning where they will be challenged and engaged in rigorous learning activities that will help them to become confident, independent learners.

My seven years experience as a literacy coach and fifteen years in the classroom have given me confidence to develop as a teacher-leader, challenging teachers to take control of student-learning and their professional advancement.
Teacher's qualifications:
* I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Hampton University in 1989.
* I have obtained 30 graduate credits in Reading and Literacy
* I am presently half-way through a Master's of Science Program in Elementary Reading and Literacy at Walden University
* I passed the Elementary Reading PRAXIS in 2008
* I have 22 years experience in elementary education, 15 years teaching and 7 years as a literacy coach
's preferred teaching style:
I want learners to be active participant in their own learning where they choose their own learning path and goals are achieved through a problem-solving, collaboration,and reflection.
