long description:
My knowledge includes detailed understanding of cognitive, social, emotional and physical development in babies and children. Subjects that I teach are gender studies and theories of gender acquisition, language acquisition, aspects and benefits of play, origins of development - biological, pyschological, social and environmental. Other areas of knowledge and understanding include theories of attachment, deprivation and privation, brain development and stages of physical growth. I also have indepth knowledge of early years curriculums in different countries, issues and research relating to importance of parental involvement, working with parents, early years settings and history of play. I have taught these subjects at a variety of levels and competencies from entry level up to degree level.

description of :
I qualified as a primary school teacher in 1989 and taught in primary education for ten years. I now work in further and higher education teaching students from the ages of sixteen years and upwards. I teach on a variety of early years programmes including the foundation degree in young children's learning and development and the BA Top up degree qualification. I am a caring and patient tutor who has always been willing to give time to students in order for them to achieve their potential. I have taught a variety of age groups and get on very well with all my students.
 
Teacher's qualifications:
I have an English Language and Literature BA hons degree (Liverpool University), a PGCE in primary education (Liverpool University), Pyschology and child development First (Open University), PGCE in Post sixteen education (Huddersfield University). I also have other qualifications and in house training completed since I have worked in education including child protection, reflective theorists, professional and personal development, history of education.

In class I use a mixture of teaching styles including mini lecture, powerpoint, interative activities, discussion, research, question and answer, quizzes, interactive whiteboard, internet, cut and paste activties, gapped handouts, posters, factsheets, presentations etc
