long description:
This course is designed for people such as corrections officers, addiction recovery specialists or people who are preparing to work with infected populations. Students who take this course will learn the history of the virus from when it was named "GRID." The epidemic will be described in terms of transmission categories and populations at risk. Disease processing models will be given, client centered models will be demonstrated for gaining trust with those infected by this disease. Furthermore 'safe sex' techniques will be demonstrated using online videos.

Teacher's qualifications:
I am expecting to defend my dissertation in May of 2017. I have earned an MHP degree from UConn a Bachelor's from Howard University. And I hold an HIV/AIDS Counseling Certificate from Connecticut's Department of Public Health, Hartford, CT.My doctoral thesis work is in Communications with coursework in Film and Art Theory. Students who take Public Speaking or other performance based classes will be sent links of my acting or speaking in order to provide online examples for teaching purposes.
 
's preferred teaching style:
Students will conduct independent research based on a set of resources I will provide. I will critique papers or performances in order to provide positive feedback. Guidelines will be written and posted for assignments.
