This class will discuss the government and politics of the Middle East
 
long description:
This class will introduce students to the Middle East by
exploring its recent history, giving birth to the current
government and political systems we see today. We will discuss
issues such as why there are so few democracies in the region;
the roots of the Arab-Israeli conflict; why Arab governments,
despite oil wealth, remain economically underdeveloped; and the
role of Islamists in the Middle East.
