Additionally I can offer a course for anyone desiring to learn Spanish a a Second Language.

description of :
I am a Maryland Certified Spanish instructor for Levels Kindergarten -12. This includes over 30 years of teaching children as well as university level adults. Beginning Spanish-AP Spanish.
Teacher's qualifications:
I have taught Spanish Levels kindergarten through the university level for over 30 years. I also teach at the university level at The Catholic University of America and have done so for over 10 years in a graduate program. I currently hold the position as World Languages Dept. Chair at Flowers HS in Springdale Md. I teach Spanish levels 2-AP. Additionally I have been sponsor of La Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica since 1997. My Spanish 3 students score the highest in our County annually. I also supervise the World Languages Multi Media Computer Lab, so the infusion of technology into the world language classroom is my specialty, as well.
's preferred teaching style:
I use differentiated instruction and attempt to reach all students dependent upon their learning styles. Some students are visual learners,auditory, etc. so I proceed in that manner. I like to demonstrate patterns, conjugations, word families, roots, cognates, etc and emphasize real world situations through dailogues, learning scenarios, etc across all areas of the curriculum. Language is not just confined to any one area. Cultural activities are also important, as well as geography, history etc. of the language being studied. I constantly expose my students online to pronunciation activities and drills as well. If there is more than one student coopertive activities will be included constantly. Additionally I like to incorporate rules so as to educate students as to why certain aspects of a language are what they are and compare them to English. Finally I teach students to use KWl in order to use what they already know to find out what they want to know via transfer skills, as well.
