Oct 89 - July 96 RCI EUROPE LTD Customer Services - Help Desk
This was a very demanding but interesting job. The main functions were to deal with members' problems whilst they were on holiday and involved dealing with irate/upset members whose expectations of their accommodation were higher than the actual accommodation. This involved calming them down and ascertaining the exact problem then searching the computer system for alternative accommodation and advising the member accordingly. In the event of no alternative accommodation then to advise the member that they would have to stay where they were and we would sort matters out upon their return.
The job also involved contacting members before they left for their holiday if there was a problem at the resort they were to be staying at. These problems could range from a flood/fire to devastation by a hurricane and also included closure of the resort for quality reasons. In these instances it was my responsibility to find alternative accommodation for the member in the same location or as near to it as possible.
I also took turns manning the flight help desk and these enquiries were usually from members who had missed their flights or forgotten tickets/passports or, on the odd occasion, actually turned up at the wrong airport or on the wrong date.

My duties involved booking flights for consultants and surveyors, mainly to the middle/far east. organising complicated itineraries with the aid of the Airline ABC reference guide. Making sure all necessary visas were obtained in good time for travel and ensuring that passports were still valid and checking that all necessary inoculations had been received and that the certificates were still within the due dates. Vetting these forms to make sure that they did not contain any errors. Checking that the tickets were correct when they arrived and making sure that none of the flight timings had been changed.
