I am currently an IGCSE/IB Maths/Additional Maths teacher teaching in an International School in Mauritius. I have taught Maths and Additional Maths at Ordinary (SC) level and Advanced (HSC) level before joining my present school where I have been teaching Middle and High School students for more than 10 years now. I am also an examiner and Deputy Chief Examiner for the International Baccalaureate Organisation.
Teacher's qualifications:
BSc.(Hons) Mathematics,
Online IGCSE course in Mathematics,
Workshop in Singapore on Maths Studies Standard Level,
Workshop in Ghana on Maths Standard Level.
Many years of experience in moderating Internal Assessment and marking of IB Maths scripts for the IBO. As peviously stated, have recently been appointed as Deputy Chief Examiner for Maths Studies Standard Level for the IBO. This involves writing of exam papers and marking schemes, leading a team of Diploma Examiners, marking and moderating students' work and examiners' marking.
's preferred teaching style:
As a Maths teacher, my principal aim has been to make this often-misunderstood subject accessible and appreciated by students. I have tried to communicate my energy and drive to my students, encouraging them to discuss the various issues raised in the classroom openly. I value a step by step explanation which generally starts from scratch and that can be modified as per my students' needs and expectations.
