This course will take a look at the last 13 years of Thai history. This history will look at the crisis of 1997 and how it changed Thailand. It will look how the crisis of 1997 led to the stormy politics of 2000s.
 
long description:
The first class will look at the crisis of 1997 and how it changed Thailand. The second class will look at the rise of Thaksin Shinawatra and how it is connected to the crisis. The third class will look at the fall of Thaksin shinawatra and the Coup of 2006. The fourth and fifth class will look at the Red Shirts and the Yellow Shirts and their connection to Thaksin. The sixth class will look at how Thailand could solve this political crisis.
