long description:
Bob Marley was reggae\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s avatar, taking the Jamaican-born music from the hills of the Caribbean island to the world outside. Eric Clapton, U2, Wyclef Jean, Stevie Wonder, Lauren Hill and artists from Japan and Israel have been influenced by reggae\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s hypnotic beats.
The course begins with reggae\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s birth in the Rastafarian religion, and follows its growth in the ghettoes of Kingston to it outreach to Madison Square Gardens, London, Rome and Africa. Along the way reggae has participated in the development of Hip Hop and the resurgence of Ska popularised by young European musicians.
The course will highlight the leading singers and musicians, as well as provide a guide to important reggae songs, albums and personalities.

I like to use one-on-one conversations to deliver instruction and information. I will make reference to several books, and include excerpts from them in the tutorial. Use of internet websites, especially those featuring music referred to in the course, will be a major factor in the course.
