short description:
Remediation for students struggling with the ability to decode/read words accurately and fluently at grade level.
long description:
Through multisensory reading instruction, students who struggle to decode/read
words fluently can learn the skills they are missing to make them more proficient
readers. This instruction is also tailored to improve spelling and writing skills.
Lessons are individualized to meet student's unique skill set, prior knowledge, and
reading level. Instruction is research-based, systematic and explicit and proven to
improve reading and fluency skills in students of all ages.

I am also willing to work with adults interested in learning more about how to tutor
students who struggle with reading. The fees would be the same as for a normal
tutoring session.

fee is for each individualized lesson which is approx. 45-
60 min. long, can continue with as many different
lessons as desired. Same fee per hour of training if
interested in being a tutor

description of :
My background is in teaching students with learning
disabilities and students who struggle in learning how to
read. I teach and tutor students, but also help train
other teachers and provide in-service opportunities to
teachers. I am a former board member of the Indiana
Branch of the International Dyslexia Association where I
also served as vice-president for one year. I have also
presented at numerous teacher conferences across the
Teacher's qualifications:
I am a special education/Resource Room teacher with
experience as a special education administrator. I am
also certified in the Orton-Gillingham approach to
teaching reading and was a supervisor and helped train
teachers at an after school learning center which
specialized in a multisensory approach to teaching
children reading skills.
's preferred teaching style:
My teaching style is very interactive and I like to be as
hands-on as possible, even in a virtual setting. I
individualize instruction based on my students so that
they are getting the best instruction possible and as
tailored to their needs as possible. I do need students to
be engaged and put in a good effort to get the most out
of these lessons.
